Description

The Mid-Autumn Festival is Mei-Ling's favourite celebration. She is looking forward to taking part in a lantern parade with all her friends. But what type of lantern will she choose? She is determined to have the most beautiful lantern in the whole parade, but it isn't so easy to decide.

Author Biography

South Australian author and illustrator Sally Heinrich has illustrated several fiction and non-fiction books for younger readers, and written and illustrated several of her own children's titles, including Edgar's Eggs, What Sort of Day? and Cherrystones. Sally's colourful and detailed style of illustration reflect her interest in Eastern and Western folk art and folklore. Final research for the illustrations in The Most Beautiful Lantern was undertaken during an Asialink residency at Rimbun Dahan in Malaysia, funded by the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, and Arts SA. The 'Palace of Great Cold' was influenced by 'The Painted Palace', which was Sally's home for three months.
