Our story begins with a family of four. The Clarks were their name, but their life was a bore. They seized an idea that cut through their fog, when Mrs. Clark said, "Let's get a dog!"
And the family of four decided that day, to bring the dog home, to live and to stay. With a wink of an eye and a wag of his tail, Max entered their lives like the wind from a gale.
Author Biography
Julie Miller is the author of several short works of fiction and non-fiction for young readers and the author of nine textbooks in mathematics. As a former math teacher, Julie values education as part of an interesting and robust life. While she loves mathematics, she recognizes that reading is the foundation of all learning. She hopes that The Max Stories will be part of a ritual of bedtime reading for families around the world. Julie lives in Florida with her fabulous black-and-white cat, Sine, and a neighborhood of mutts: Elmer, Talus, Lucy, Bartok, Daisy, Coco, Scruffy, Andy, Nicki, and Loosey. Joe Eckstein is the illustrator of over a dozen books for children, including Herby Gets a Life, which he also authored. Drawing and writing stories since he can remember, he has a Bachelor's degree in fine art and has worked as an illustrator for a leading children's education publisher. He greatly enjoyed bringing Max's entertaining and heartwarming tale to life. He lives in Florida and is married to the love of his life, Kristen.
