Author Biography:

Rudyard Kipling was born in India, in 1865. Just before his sixth birthday Rudyard and his sister were sent to England to receive their formal education. At the age of sixteen he returned to India and worked as a journalist on a local newspaper. In 1886 his first book, Departmental Ditties, was published, and during the years that followed he had success with many more books including, in 1889, The Jungle Book. He married in 1891 and settled for a while in the US, however he then returned to England and from there moved to South Africa. He continued to write until his death in 1936.
