Description

Daughters of illegal immigrants live lives that are unique in their own way. Here's a story of one such daughter who grew up in a period where illegal immigration was the dominating topic of the day. Growing up the daughter faced an unforeseen reality, a restructured family with dosages of monumental disruptions and an unforgiving life heavy on contradictions. She became a lost soul eternally squeezed by harsh and very painful memories. As a child the system forced her mother to be a single super parent. Unfaithful, insensitive and very cruel immigration laws of that time deported her father to his native faraway lands. Not to be outdone challenges found a way to sneak into her life to spice up her circumstances by adding ingredients familiar to them, misery. It was enough for the mother's mental status to torpedo. She suffered a mental breakdown and turned to the dirty bottle for salvation. The daughter herself battled her own demons. Feelings of abandonment within her never subsided. In fact she longed for that lost conversation with her father she never really got to know. That's how she vowed to do anything and everything within reason to hear his voice again. When they were finally reunited she got more than the soulful exotic voice she remembered. The precious gift of life.
