Description

The Hiawatha Anthology tells the stories of some of the pioneering men and women who migrated to Manistique, Michigan and the surrounding area; coming both from other states and from overseas. It is my hope that these stories will provide the reader with a glimpse into a not so distant past before technology, when life was simpler but also more perilous and uncertain.Modern medical advances were decades away and life expectancy was short. Though the times were different, the people themselves were very much like us. They were just as alive as we are today-with the same emotions and the same enduring hopes and aspirations for themselves and their children. Their struggles and that of thousands of others like them, laid the foundation for the lives we have today.
