Description

Groundshine: Gamma or beta radiation from radioactive material deposited on the ground, buildings, and other objects, including fallout after a nuclear or dirty bomb detonation. Bob Bancroft, a politically far-right American, is obsessed with America's "Open border" policy. Not the Mexican border. He figures Texans can handle that one. For years Bob has demanded the three bridges crossing the Niagara Gorge be closed. These bridges are major border crossings between the US and Canada. Nick Ballantine, a new member of Bob's little group of "patriots," is also a deep-cover agent of the Russian SVR. Ballantine has shown Bancroft how he and his friends can close those bridges, perhaps permanently. With help from Nicholas and other SVR agents, Bob and his followers steal TNT and deadly radioactive uranium that's been stored at the Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS) since the Manhattan Project. They build dirty bombs with enough TNT and potassium nitrate to destroy at least one bridge and compromise the structural safety of the other two. Arkady Yahontov, a conscripted Russian radiation specialist assigned to this project, has added enough of the stolen, highly enriched K-65 uranium ore to each of the IEDs to spread radioactive debris up to a kilometer around each border crossing. Niagara Falls, NY Detectives Alec Theron and Orca Sanders join forces with Niagara County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Doug Connors and FBI Supervisory Special Agent Lacey Rogers to challenge these domestic terrorists and their deadly planned event. An event where nobody wins and so many lose.
