Description

Judy McNeil is fourteen when her father dies and her mother takes her and her siblings to live in Brisbane. Her mother soon remarries but Judy runs away after attempting to kill her stepfather. She quickly finds herself in love and pregnant to a Singaporean man named Richard. He eventually sends Judy, again pregnant, and their newborn child to live with his family in Singapore, while he remains in Australia. There she finds a father-in-law that despises her. Judy escapes, only to find herself at the mercy of Dayak rebels and forced into prostitution to feed herself and her children. Later she is reunited with her husband only to suffer more by his brutal ways. Ultimately she is faced with a devastating choice: to escape her nightmare world, she will have to leave her children behind.
