Author Biography:

Paul Giles- born 22nd May 1967 in Melbourne recalls his first foray into fashion as a young high school student who took the usual discontent with the school uniform to a new level. He restyled it with cooler more wearable fabrics and updated designs, much to the delight of his schoolmates. It was a chance suggestion from a workmate to visit an agency that led him from high school uniforms to an international modeling career. Within weeks of that visit he was on a plane bound for Tokyo and he began his career working for the likes of Issey Miyake, Asahi Beer, NEC Electrical and Nike. A year later he moved to the US, basing himself in Hawaii, but commuting regularly to Los Angeles, Chicago and New York to work with gilt-edged clients including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, GAP and Hugo Boss, featuring in catalogues, billboards and television commercials. Paul spent the next 15 years as an international model commuting between the US, Tokyo, Australia Europe, the US, Japan and New Zealand. Eventually relocating to Sydney, he worked nationally with David Jones, Myer, Marcs and Morrissey and had a regular contract with a television games show. After marrying an Adelaide artist and with a young family in tow, Paul made the move to South Australia where he continued to model for a while, commuting to Melbourne and Sydney, before committing to a life in the Adelaide Hills. Paul returned to his fashion roots in 2010, starting StyleShift, a leading Australian image-consulting firm for males that assists men to create their own sense of style, whilst incorporating other areas such as health, fitness and grooming. As part of this business, he's a columnist for Newscorp, writing a weekly article on men's fashion and etiquette whilst appearing regularly on ABC radio and TV.
