Description

In his short story collection the forsaken... Chad Broughman explores the complexities of the human condition and how relationships can shape and haunt us for the rest of days. The tales are threaded together by the characters' common ground of abandonment, each battling against his/her reality with dignity and fortitude, though not always emerging victorious.

Author Biography:

After a southern Michigan childhood, Chad V. Broughman worked for a brief stint in the banking industry throughout the state of Georgia then pursued a career in education. He is a prose writer and English/Creative Writing teacher living in Harbor Springs, Michigan, a scenic resort community on the northern shores of Lake Michigan. Chad won the 2016 Rusty Scythe Prize Book award and has been published in numerous reviews and journals nationwide--such as Carrier Pigeon, East Coast Literary Review, River Poets Journal and Burningword--and is forthcoming in Killer Nashville's Broken Ribbon. As well, he won the 2017 Adobe Cottage Writers Retreat in New Mexico and, most recently, was named a finalist in the William Faulkner: William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition and earned a certificate of Distinction from New Millennium Writings. Chad holds an MFA from Spalding University and co-edits the on-line fiction/poetry blog, Café Aphra, based in the United Kingdom. All that said, Chad is most proud of his role as a family man--father to his two rambunctious young boys, Gray and Hudson, and husband to his forbearing wife, Erin.
