Author Biography:

Lyn Fairchild Hawks is the author of How Wendy Redbird Dancing Survived the Dark Ages of Nought, her debut novel, and The Flat and Weightless Tang-Filled Future, a collection of short stories. Since 2008, her stories have seen publication in magazines (Relief Journal and Stanford Magazine) or have won awards or finalist positions (2008 Glimmer Train Family Matters contest, 2008 Writers' Group of the Triad contest, AROHO Foundation's 2009 Orlando Short Fiction Prize, and NCSU's 2010 Short-short Fiction contest). How Wendy Redbird Dancing Survived the Dark Ages of Nought (formerly St. Michael, Pray for Us) was awarded the first runner-up prize from the James Jones First Novel Fellowship with Wilkes University. She is also author of Teaching Julius Caesar: A Differentiated Approach, and is also co-author of The Compassionate Classroom: Lessons that Nurture Wisdom and Empathy and Teaching Romeo and Juliet: A Differentiated Approach. Her lessons are featured in Differentiation in Practice: A Resource Guide for Differentiating Curriculum, Grades 9-12. Lyn holds a BA in English and an MA in Education from Stanford University. She has taught English in public and independent schools and currently designs curriculum and trains teachers.
