• Premiere Production: The Fever was originally performed in various apartments, primarily in New York, to audiences of ten to twelve people, before receiving a first official production at The Public Theater in 1990.  • Obie Award Winner: The Fever won the 1991 Obie Award for Best Play. • Recent Revival: The Fever was revived in 2021 by Audible Theater at the Minetta Lane Theatre in New York in a production starring Lili Taylor, now available as an audioplay through Audible. • Filmed Adaptation: The Fever was adapted into a 2004 film by Shawn and director Carlo Gabriel Nero. The unnamed role played by Shawn in the original production was played in the film by Vanessa Redgrave. • TV and Film:Shawn’s many film and TV appearances include My Dinner with Andre (which he co-wrote with Andre Gregory), A Master Builder (which he adapted from Ibsen’s play), The Princess Bride, Clueless, Gossip Girl, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Young Sheldon. • Celebrated Essayist:In addition to plays, Mr. Shawn is a celebrated essayist whose collections Essays and Night Thoughts are published by Haymarket Books.

Author Biography:

Wallace Shawn is a noted actor and writer. His often politically-charged and controversial plays include The Fever, Aunt Dan and Lemon, Marie and Bruce and The Designated Mourner. With Andr� Gregory, he co-wrote My Dinner with Andre, in which he also starred. He adapted the classic Ibsen play A Master Builder for film.
