Description

Do you recognize the difference between a job and a true opportunity? Do you worry about settling for a paycheck when you want to work with passion and purpose? Are you busy for hours online, yet totally unproductive? Are you drowning in coffee? Networking, but getting nowhere?Have you outsourced the direction of your career to a piece of paper? Are Recruiters and Head Hunters not returning your calls? Know why? Do you need a plan to make measurable progress, now?The Economy of One will teach you to: Identify six paths to pursue revenue outside of "get a job" or "start a business." Avoid a broken employment system, going direct to companies and people who need exactly what you have to offer.Act like an executive agent, recruiter and professional connector.Think and act like an entrepreneur (even if you aren't ready to commit to being one).Recognize the difference between another "job" and a customized vision of a true opportunity.Avoid being positioned as a "desperate jobseeker," retrofitting yourself.Clearly state the Story of You(TM). Strongly position your value to tap the 80% of positions not posted.Understand the difference between sincere relationship building and "networking."Create, nurture and expand relationships so that you are never at the mercy of traditional methods again.Realize that money is anything you can use to solve problems for others.Utilize an accountability group committed to your success.Make measurable progress against your goals.Use a step-by-step business best practice to fill your pipeline so you and your family are never without options again.Be an Economy of One, driving demand for what you can uniquely supply in the "gig economy."Consider this: What you choose to do for the rest of your life is the fourth most important decision of your life, right behind decisions to marry, have kids, and your religious beliefs. The choice of what to do while on planet earth is huge. In fact, over 70% of workers are unhappy with their current career.Yet most people take more time to plan for a wedding or birthday party than they do for their career! It's time to regain control and clarity for the fourth most important decision of your life. It's time to become an Economy of One!

Author Biography:

Elizabeth Allen is the CEO of the sales consulting firm Marketsmartz, based in Kansas City. An entrepreneur from the age of 25, she has worked in strategic market planning, national brand management and executive sales management. Elizabeth is the creator and developer of CODE, a proprietary sales and marketing system that has transformed small- and mid-size companies nationwide. CODE has transformed the sales process of numerous companies across the United States. Her sales management systems are the subject of The Contractor's CODE for Marketing and Sales (2006) and Driving Demand: The CODE for Sales (2014). Frequently asked to speak to business groups, Elizabeth is a thought leader that delivers cutting edge insight and practical advice on how everyone throughout an organization can meaningfully participate and support the sales process. For many years, Elizabeth has devoted much of her time and effort helping the many unemployed "Free Agents" transition to a new "Economy of One." From her observation that "the only difference between an entrepreneur and someone unemployed is that one has decided that he or she has something to sell," she developed a new CODE program to teach Free Agents how to "think like an entrepreneur," whether they become an entrepreneur or end up finding a new job. Elizabeth has taught and facilitated this course to Free Agent groups. The program is documented in her book, The Economy of One: CODE for Free Agents (2011). She also serves as a congregational care minister at her local church, ministering to job seeking free agents in the community. Frank Bonura started as an IT recruiter in 1979; the focus was the contract-for-hire methodology. In 1984, he launched his own practice focusing on Senior Operator search engagements. In 2008 Frank created the Executive Agent methodology; managing the careers of senior operators in the same fashion that Agents represent actors and athletes. Frank began providing "unorthodox" career management counsel and support for displaced employees. The goal is for his clients to become their own Headhunter, Connector and Executive Agent: to never find themselves at the mercy of traditional HR, job boards, recruiters, or resumes again. In 2015, Frank became involved with an urgent need working on how veterans and business owners / leaders view each other, and also the processes practiced by the veteran to create and secure the personal and professional opportunities they deserve.
