Description

"From the fertile field of his imagination, Gbanabom Hallowell has produced this new collection of short stories. Hallowell has set most of the stories in this collection in various fictitious places but it is abundantly clear that these are people with whom he has more than a passing acquaintance in terms of their history, their concerns, their motivations and their culture." Yema Lucilda Hunter - Author of: Road to Freedom, Her Name was Aina, Redemption Song, Joy came in the Morning, & Deep Waters "The stories are actually about human beings anywhere in the world; their ability to unite for the good of an individual or society; their life-giving or life-denying attributes; their innate evil and ruthless individualism; and their loneliness. These stories, told with a mastery of language, humour, sensitivity and panache, establish Hallowell as one of the greatest storytellers of our times" Elizabeth L.A. Kamara - Department of Language Studies, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Author of: To Cross for a Daughter and other poems & Stolen Laughter. THE AUTHOR Gbanabom Hallowell is the editor of In the Belly of the Lion: An Anthology of New Sierra Leonean Short Stories, author of ten volumes of poems and a play. His novel, The Road to Kaibara was published by SLWS in 2015. Hallowell holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Social Sciences from The Union Institute & University, Ohio, an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from Vermont College, USA, an Executive Education in Global Leadership & Public Policy Harvard University, USA, and a Higher Teachers Certificate from the then Milton Margai Teachers College, Sierra Leone. He has taught at universities in the United States, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
