Description

This volume brings together recent research from an contributors in four distinct fields of the psychology of mathematical development. The four fields covered are: the foundation of mathematics in infancy and early childhood, the social and linguistic context of mathematical learning, the cognitive processes underlying development and the neuropsychological evidence and individual differences in children's mathematical skills. The "Studies in Developmental Psychology" series will consist of eight titles, each presenting a different subfield within developmental psychology. An international list of contributors and editors present rounded accounts of research and the development of their particular subject. Each contribution is written for students, while managing to avoid recycling the usual elementary material. The value of this series is underlined by the efforts made to include the essentials, while offering the potential to stretch and stimulate students with the most recent developments.
