Description

Developed on two narrative levels, year 4891 of the thermo-nuclear era and 1825 after Christ, this story presents a dystopian society reminiscent of the 1984 novel by George Orwell and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The protagonist, belonging to the Totis race (bionic men), rebels against the despotic system that prevails on the planet Asylum, in contravention of the first basic rule: wanting to know what really happened in the past and how the ancient societies of planet Earth lived. Parallel to Kharty's story there's also the story of Ivy Bathory, a nineteenth-century heroine who will fight against an adverse and cruel fate. Another story by Xenia Kenakis with a fast and engaging rhythm with hints of Film Brazil and Kiss of the Spider Woman. The author clearly explains how dangerous it is, in certain situations, to be different from the masses, to reason with one's own head and not to want to submit to a form of dictatorship that is silent, sneaky, dangerous and incredibly topical.Xenia Kenakis is the stage name of Paola Musticchio (Arezzo, Italy, 1966). She wrote especially in her youth, but loves to be known now, during her mature age. She particularly likes some literary genres: drama, fantasy, science fiction, thriller, romance, and has no problem mixing them together to create new tasty blends. She wrote poems when she was a girl and then she wrote short and long stories (1980/1990), and a novel (2005). She has participated in literary competitions and received good awards. She is a music teacher (thanks to her Piano diploma and her degree in Musicology), and is active on Social Networks. She publishes her works exclusively on Amazon.
