When an intriguing personal ad appears in the newspaper apparently seeking a charming wife, Edwina knows it is posted by the notorious rake and seducer of innocent maidens, Ashton. She forms the rake patrol to follow him and warn his unknowing prey. He however is preoccupied with the secret message he has received which threatens his family and the safety of England. He persuades Edwina to lend her code breaking skills to solving the puzzle and together they become embroiled in secret societies and risque temptations.
