Author Biography:

M. J. Billington, BSc, MRICS, is a chartered building surveyor whohas worked on various editions of the book since 1986. He wasformerly Senior Lecturer in building control and construction at DeMontfort University, Leicester. Currently he is Managing Directorof Construction Auditing Services Ltd, a company that specialisesin latent defects insurance technical auditing, and ManagingDirector of Certass Ltd, a Building Regulations Competent PersonScheme for replacement windows and doors. K. T. Bright, MSc, FRICS, FBEng, MCIOB, NRAC (Consultant), isEmeritus Professor of Inclusive Environments at the University ofReading and Visiting Professor of Inclusive Environments in theSchool of Art and Design at the University of Ulster. He is alsoa Director of KBC Ltd, an independent access consultancy. J. R. Waters, BSc, MPhil, PhD, MCIBSE, CEng, is HonoraryResearch Fellow at Coventry University, where he was formerly Headof Building Services Engineering. He is currently a consultant onenvironmental aspects of building design.
