Author Biography:

Originally from Toronto, Canada, J. Smith now resides in Jacksonville, Florida. As the child of Jamaican parents, Smith has a strong sense of culture, passion, and pride. On a lighter note she also enjoys curry chicken and oxtails. Poetry has always sparked an interest in Smith, as she started writing at the tender age of nine, even entering poetry competitions, which proved her to be a top competitor in the field of literature. Smith is an alumni of Florida International University with a bachelor's degree in communications. Community engagement is a significant focus, as Smith has worked in the field for over nine years and will continue to do so, serving individuals and families who are under served. Smith has contributed to numerous blogs and fashion advice columns, but now focuses on publishing her own work in which she has freedom of thought and creative control. The ultimate goal is to be the voice of the black thought, black community and black experience in America and around the world.
