Description

Topical play about terrorism and its aftermath. Inspired by Jo Berry, whose father was killed in the 1984 Brighton Bomb and Patrick Magee who planted that bomb. In 2000, they met for the first time to promote understanding and conflict resolution. They have continued their dialogue ever since. To coincide with a tour by Action Transport Theatre Co. At sixteen, she was shell-shocked and caught in the blast. Now the bomber's waiting on the other side of the door. THE BOMB is a journey into the minds of two extraordinary people - one who destroys lives, the other who forgives the unforgivable.

Author Biography:

KEVIN DYER Kevin is an experienced playwright with over 40 commissioned plays behind him. He has recently written a new Beauty and the Beast for The Dukes Play-in-the-Park, The Monster Under The Bed for Polka, and The Fool on the Hill for Action Transport Theatre. Kevin is the Associate Writer for Action Transport Theatre; a professional writer embedded in a new-writing company. He leads creative writing sessions, works as a dramaturg for other writers and leads collective-writing processes where a dozen or more writers share their creativity to make surprising new plays. He also works as a director and an actor. He is a published poet, has reviewed cinema and books, judged literary competitions and has worked as a journalist on papers and magazines. When Kevin was 10, Peter Fox - his primary school teacher - typed up a story he had written. The story won no prizes and never will, but Peter Fox gave him the encouragement to be a writer. (He also taught him how to catch one-handed, make battleships out of balsa wood and kick a ball with his left foot.)
