"But why mom? Why did Jesus need to come as a baby?" Those words from my son were the catalyst for writing this series of Advent readings, originally to share with my own children. Advent readings often focus on the lineage of Jesus. While these readings include stories of the people leading up to Jesus, the focus is different. It comes at the advent story from a more cosmic perspective, attempting to look at the significance of Jesus birth in light of the ongoing story of redemption that arcs through history as laid out in scripture. This book includes a reading for each day of Advent, beginning with December 1st and concluding on December 25th. Each reading includes a scripture passage, a reflection on that passage, and a prayer. There are additional readings for each advent Sunday and lighting the candles.
