Author Biography:

Cliff Lord served as a cipher Operator in 15 Signal Regiment, Aden, during 1967. This included two months in Mukalla and an attachment to the South Arabian Army. After leaving the Army Cliff worked in Paris for the Washington Post and in Auckland as a computer operator before joining Air New Zealand Network Control. Cliff is Team Leader for the Southern Cross Submarine Cable & the Telecom Pacific Island Hub Satellite System. He has written eight books on military history and is Hon Corps Historian for RNZ Signals. / The late David Birtles joined Royal Signals after a few years in the Merchant Navy. He served in Aden in 1960 including time with the Aden Protectorate Levies. In civilian life he owned a security company and was also involved in driving and motorcycle instruction in addition to police dog training and handler instruction.
