Who thought making money could be so easy; namely, through telling a simple story? People do it all the time. Probably-even you. I did. I didn't even know it. I do now though. You will too. I was twenty-four years old. I was hired to sell yellow pages ads in Saint Louis, Missouri. I love Saint Louis-It's where I met my first love. It holds a special meaning-you know? Anyway, I was about to quit when an older man convinced me to stay on while he taught me how to hypnotize people to buy from me. It sounded both exciting and unethical so I was skeptical but willing to try anything if it meant keeping a roof over my head. The man's name was Kevin. He was the best of the best. Number one in the company. He could sell ice to Eskimos. It wouldn't have surprised me if he had at some point during his career. He'd of been good at it. Probably would have made a killing too! Kevin taught me that day that the key to selling, in fact the key to hypnotic persuasion and getting people to do anything for you, was to tell hypnotic stories. Kevin explained to me that a hypnotic story was one that hypnotized people. He said, "Bryan, most stories are hypnotic, just the storyteller doesn't have any intention or context in mind for hypnotizing the reader, viewer, listener, etc." I had to ask: "Kevin, how does a story hypnotize someone?" Kevin explained that it uses a very narrowly and clearly defined hypnotic process to do so and it is this process that can be brilliantly used to put people under your hypnotic spell, where they'll do anything you tell them to do. I was sold. I have been using hypnotic stories ever since to hypnotize people secretly through conversations I would have with them with different intentions for doing so.
