"A wonderful insight into 4 ladies"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This was a beautifully filmed informal meeting of the four dames showing their individual personalities and opening up to their historical private relationships. Interacting with the director and cameraman added to the informality of the documentary

Wonderful to see these four amazing ladies talking about so many years of acting in films and on stage, often together such as “Tea with Mussolini”

** Critics Reviews for Tea with the Dames **

  • " Director Roger Michell did a beautiful job with his gentle, hands-off approach, which led to a marvellously entertaining programme." – Claudia Connell , Daily Mail (UK)
  • “You don't have to be familiar with all of their work to appreciate their experience and the words of wisdom they impart on the audience.” – Matthew Toomey , ABC Radio Brisbane
  • " It is a strange, subdued, rather miserable film, interestingly perceptive on conformism and philistinism as a way of life, and on the disconcerting wiles the inhabitants use in order to thwart Florence's entirely reasonable plans." – Paul Byrnes , Sydney Morning Herald
  • " It's not just what she says but the way she says it, that makes Judi Dench's advice to her younger self so moving. Be less susceptible to falling in love, she says. This is one of the wonderful moments in this fly-on-the-wall documentary…" – Louise Keller , Urban Cinefile
