Tamiya: 1/20 Brabham BT50 (BMW Turbo 20017) – Model Kit
The Brabham Team (Motor Racing Developments Ltd) was founded by the world famous racing driver, Jack Brabham, who in 1966 became the first man to win a Grand Prix in a car bearing his own name. Brabham won the World Championship Series in 1966 and Denny Hume won the team's second title in 1967. Ten years later, in 1977 developmental work on the engine began in preparation for the following season. In 1978, the team attracted sponsorship of the Italian Dairy Products company Parmalat. With the new BT-46 in the hands of top drivers John Watson and Niki Lauda, and powered by the new 500hp horizontally opposed 12 cylinder 3 liter Alfa Romeo engine, the machine was able to race into the top echelons of F-1 history. The revolutionary form of the new BT-46 drew incredible attention with it's never before seen throttle plate, air funnel, and engine block mechanics, as well as its sharp triangular frame.
