Th e story of the Koori Centre celebrates the achievements of Indigenous people in the creation of an enlightened University learning community. Australians are more likely to hold higher educational qualifi cations today than previously and Indigenous people have matched this trend with an increase in post-school awards. Th at able Indigenous students perform at the highest levels is evident in the excellent results gained by Indigenous stu-dents across University courses. Th e outstanding results of these men and women testify to their preparation, study and research skills, and their full involvement in University activities.

Author Biography:

John Cleverley (1931-2014) was appointed director of the Aboriginal teachers aides training program in 1984 and continued to serve as director 'on and off' until 1991. Following his retirement, John has continued an association with the Koori Centre through to the present in mentoring and special project activities. Janet Mooney is the Director of the Koori Centre. She has worked for many years as a secondary school teacher and education consultant in Aboriginal education, as well as lecturer in the Aboriginal education assistants program at the Koori Centre.
