Author Biography: Lupita Nyong'o is a Mexican-Kenyan writer, actress, and director. Her first feature film role was in the Academy Award-winning film 12 Years a Slave, for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She starred as Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Nyong'o also starred in Marvel's international blockbuster Black Panther. Nyong'o has earned a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in Danai Gurira's play Eclipsed, which was nominated for five Tony Awards, and is set to produce and star in an adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's bestselling novel Americanah. Nyong'o graduated from the Yale School of Drama's acting program. Sulwe is her debut children's book.
