Description

'STOP! HEY, WHAT'S THAT SOUND?' The 1960's Revolution and Birth of the Jesus People is a Historical and Spiritual Adventure! It rides the waves of Societal Change, Just Causes, Social Experimentation, Peaceful Movements and a God Visit. Twenty-seven eyewitness contributors have joined to preserve an accurate record of these times with 390+ photos and art from the era. The facts, personal and national failures are left intact. A fierce battle between the forces of Darkness and Light electrify the pages of this Epic True Story. As fragile World Peace and the threat of nuclear war looms, who to trust or believe in, is an unspoken question on the minds of countless millions the world over. In the USA, amidst social hopes and dreams rising and falling, the assassinations of John F Kennedy, Robert F Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., thrust America and various parts of the globe into complicated grief. Freedom, justice and equality for all remain elusive as prejudice and the horrors of the Vietnam War rage on. A generation seeking 'Peace and Love' swells, until falling prey to dangerous and addictive drugs, hedonism and demonic practices which drive a spike into the coffin of this fledgling movement. When hope was at its lowest, a remnant of hippies arise from the ashes, claiming redemption through Jesus Christ. Society as a whole is shocked to see Nomadic long-haired Christ-followers carrying Bibles and speaking about God with conviction! This peaceful group would be called 'The Jesus Movement.' On the road in the USA, the UK and beyond-'Stop Hey' documents their birth, travels, challenges they faced and ensuing victories and defeats. It also exposes dangerous cults and offers help for cult victims. The musicals Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and Lonesome Stone contributed to an awareness of this spiritual phenomenon. This is an 800 page book available in hardback through Ingram Spark at $34. and in soft cover at Amazon.com for $28. An eBook is in production.
