Excerpt from State Personnel: Report to the 1987 General Assembly of North Carolina By Senate Bill 636 (1985 Session Laws, Chapter 790) the Legislative Research Commission was authorized to study state personnel matters. In order to accomplish these tasks, Representative Christopher S. Barker, Jr. As a member of the Legislative Research Commission was appointed to coordinate the Study of the State Personnel System. Senator William W. Staton and Representative Margaret Stamey were appointed to cochair the Committee. The other members appointed were Senators Marc Basnight and William W. Redman, Jr.; Represen tatives James F. Hughes, James F. Richardson, Edward. N. Warren and Betty H. Wiser; and public members Mr. Emmett Burden and Mr. Glenn Weingarth.
