Way too small for chickens… They wouldn't fit in the hole to the sleep area! You definitely need to paint it of you want it to last more than a few seasons. Structure needs some assistance to keep it all together, especially the ramp. The latches are flimsy and hardly close. I feel like it's only big enough for my 2 baby guinea pigs. I'll probably need to extend off it if it lasts that long. You get what you pay I guess.
