Description

Fellini-Satyricon is a romp through an ancient Rome recreated via the imagination of the director Federico Fellini. Here Andrea Perruccio offers us an enlightening comparative study of the cinematic text and its source material, Satyrica by Petronius. Through scrupulous scholarship, close reading, and strong analytical intuition, Show-off, Unreliable, Erratic is a perfect gateway into that work of fiction from the Imperial Rome of Nero as well as the Fellini masterpiece.

Author Biography:

ANDREA PERRUCCIO began as a Lecturer in Italian Language in Finland (Jyvskyl University) and spent the rest of his career as a high school teacher in Prato and Florence. Residing in Florence, he presently works as an independent scholar on Greek and Latin literature, and on the history of cinema. In his many publications, he skillfully combines the Classics with twentieth-century Italian cinema, specifically on Pasolini and Fellini. His latest publications include: "La ricezione del poeta satirico Lucilio nell'Africa romana" (Rheinisches Museum, forthcoming); and "Pasolini traduttore dell'Agamennone di Eschilo" (Cabiria. Studi di Cinema).
