In 1983 New York native Cyndi Lauper burst onto the international music scene with her pop maserpiece She's So Unusual. Selling more than 10 Million units worldwide since it's release, She's So Unusual has also gone on to recieve almost unanimous praise from music critics and fans alike. Four of the seven singles released (Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Time After Time, She Bop and All Through The Night) became top 5 hits on America's Billboard Hot 100 chart making Lauper the first female to have four songs off of a debut album all reach top 5 on the charts.
With a four-octave vocal range and an ear for catchy beats, Cyndi should have gone on to have a more Madonna-like career. Although subsequent albums recieved almost unanimous praise from critics and fans alike, the praise never eventuated in sales and Cyndi Lauper is yet to match the sales of She's So Unusual. If she ever will remains to be seen but in the end it doesn't really matter as She's So Unusual will go on to live as one of the greatest albums of the 80s.
