In line with the updated Rose Review, which emphasizes the importance of learning about physical development, health and wellbeing, this book provides: · Clear and up-to-date guidance on what is deemed good practice and what is statutory · A simple to use, 'cut and paste' framework for SRE policy development · INSET activities that can be used with staff, governors and/or parents · Lesson plans and photocopiable activity sheets · A variety of useful documents such as information sheets for parents/carers to help them understand the benefits of effective SRE, consultation forms, an example of a pre-programme letter for parents/carers Topics covered include: the physical and emotional changes that take place in the human body as puberty is reached, human reproduction, developing a good self-image, dealing with negative pressures and challenging sexual stereotypes.

Author Biography:

Molly Potter taught for 11 years in middle schools as a class teacher, science and PSHE co-ordinator. She then worked for several years as an SRE (Sex and Relationships Education) Development Manager, delivering teacher training and supporting primary schools in the development of their SRE programme and policy and many other aspects of PSHE. Molly now works as a teacher in a short-stay school with children that have been or are at risk from being excluded from mainstream schools – putting much of her PSHE expertise into practice. Molly is the author of the bestselling picture book How Are You Feeling Today?.
