Held on the 1st October at Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst, the race was won by Dick Johnson and John Bowe of Dick Johnson Racing. Leading for the majority of the race, they were only briefly threatened by Klaus Niedzwiedz and Frank Biela in their own Ford Sierra.
