Description

This study reconstructs and analyzes issues that surround the initial Jewish resettlement of the Holy land in the late 19th century. It asks what the key elements of foundation were and who implemented it. This book looks at the role played by Baron Edmond de Rothschild through his many agents in the Jewish settlement movement and places the endeavour in a global perspective by comparing it to the phenomenon of colonization throughout the world. The author draws upon a wide range of resources and illustrates the narrative with maps and photographs.
