Description

Rolland was a French novelist, dramatist, essayist, mystic, and pacifist, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1915. He had a strong sense of social responsibility and believed that art must be a part of the struggle to bring enlightenment to people. Rolland's biographer, Zweig, achieved fame with his psychoanalytically-oriented biographies of historical characters. It contents are divided into parts. They are as follows-Part One: Biographical; Part Two: Early Work as a Dramatist; Part Three: The Heroic Biographies; Part Four: Jean Christophe; Part Five: Intermezzo Scherzo (Colas Breugnon); and Part Six: The Conscience of Europe.
