Description

This work contains essays by J. J. Charlesworth and Tom Morton. This publication accompanies the first solo museum exhibition (Milton Keynes Gallery) by the British sculptor Roger Hiorns. His work utilizes chance and reaction in crystallizing car engines (through submersion in copper sulphate) and making ceramic vessels overflow with foam (achieved through detergent and small air compressors). In addition, Hiorns has used drawings, posters, photographs and film to engage with material and object. "If there is one constant that operates through the work of Roger Hiorns, it is that he makes objects and images that contain the paradox of being both inert and alive." - J. J. Charlesworth.
