Meg Cannistra, author of How to Heal a Gryphon, grew up in Sarasota, Florida. After living in New York City and northern New Jersey for a few years, Meg now resides with her husband, two cats, and dog in Charlotte, North Carolina. When she's not taking pictures of her cats or wandering around grocery stores, she writes magical, mysterious, and sometimes scary stories. L. Frank Baum was born in 1856 in Chittenango, New York. In 1900, he published The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the book was an instant hit.
