Nicholas F. Radel is Professor of English at Furman University, Greenville, USA. His publications include Understanding Edmund White (2013) and The Puritan Origins of American Sex: Religion, Sexuality, and National Identity in American Literature, co-edited with Tracy Fessenden and Magdalena Zaborowska (2001). Brian Vickers is a Fellow of the British Academy and a Distinguished Senior Fellow in The School of Advanced Study, University of London.
