Description

I am Steven M Davies, was published in an anthology with just over one thousand other poets worldwide, by 'The International Library of Poetry' titled 'memories of the millennium' 'the best poems and poets of the 20th century', as printed on the hardbound cover book in gold embossed lettering, I had achieved instant recognition for my writing talent, I was further published again in 2001 with my poem titled 'rainbow freckles' in the best poems of 2001', and then in 1996 my 3 poems were selected and published in a 250 page anthology called 'ímortal verses series', I am listed in there historical archives as being poets elite. I have been writing in my spare time about 43 years, and in this poetry publication is a selection of my works. Two reasons why I love to write poetry, firstly I like the challenge of finding from the vast dictionary of words that rhyme in harmony with what I am expressing, usually the last word of first and second line together, and the third and fourth line together, in paragraphs of 4 lines through out each poem, very often I also like to create a constant and unique structure pattern throughout each poem as well, since I am a thorough writer and cover much detail, then sometimes the lines can be lengthy and I feel it reads more fluently and sounds better that way if read aloud. Secondly, I love the idea of having the freedom to express my emotions and opinions about society and the world we all inhabit and contribute towards somehow and in some way.I like to write about truth and fact, the reality of like, the way things actually are, mainly human sufferings, hardships, redundancy, being on low income and struggling on government benefit, keeping law abiding as citizens, and trying all sorts of ways to make ends meet by striving to raise a young family. My attitude and out look towards society may seem negative and critical, but a lot of my poetry are from personal experiences or what I have seen and heard about from radio, the daily news, television and newspapers. Many thousands of people have experienced sufferings in some way, either emotionally, psychologically, physically or financially, I do hope that my writings will give people a sigh of relief or maybe gladden you in heart and spirit knowing that sufferings affect all people from all walks of life, weather rich or poor, for the low income earners is the hurtful pains of making no headway, and the desires to be occupied in the work place earning self satisfaction of providing a comfortable and happy life style for there children, it is to all those people whom I dedicate this book.Money is a priority and essential to provide our basic needs, the truth is that after many years of trying and struggling, people end up with 'I have had enough' or 'Í can not take this anymore' attitude, not having enough money to achieve goals eventually builds up and causes severe friction, tension and strain on the family often leading to crime, domestic violence, court hearings, prison terms, child abuse, separations and divorce, sadly, New Zealand has one of the most highest suicide rates for young people in the world. Often people do not seek help or counselling and their anxiety is released on prostitution, alcohol and drugs to help ease pressure, instead of being a temporary relaxation it easily becomes a regular routine, an addiction eventually not managing to pay basic necessities like rents, mortgages, electricity bills, maintenance, court fines and providing food on the table, with an empty fridge and cupboards, suddenly they are faced with reminder notices, higher interest charges, overdue accounts and tenancy evictions, with no money flooding in to help and no where to go, the pressure is unbearable and it is usually the children who pay the innocent cost.
