This book presents recent advances made in materials science and engineering within Russian academia, particularly groups working in the Ural Federal University District. Topics explored in this volume include structure formation analysis of complicated alloys, non-ferrous metals metallurgy, composite composed materials science, and high-pressure treatment of metals and alloys. Author Biography:

Professor Carlos A. Brebbia is the Director of the Wessex Institute in the UK, and is renowned worldwide as the originator of the Boundary Element Method. He has written many scientific papers, is editor of many volumes and is the author or co-author of fourteen books. His current interests are in the field of strategic planning and research management. He is the founder of several International Journals and responsible for the publishing program of the Institute. He has helped the Institute to develop academic links with first class institutions around the world. Carlos is also a member of the International Committee for the awards of the Prigogine Medal and the George Green Medal. Dr. Jerome J. Connor is Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests include computational mechanics, structural analysis, motion based structural design, and novel design methodologies for structural systems andhas taught courses in computational mechanics and structural engineering. In recent years Connor’s work has involved motion based design and damage assessment of engineering materials and he is directing a number of projects related to the applications of structural control to large civil structures as well as investigating methods to quantify damage in engineering materials.
