This book presents peer-reviewed articles from the First International Conference on Advanced Renewable Energy Systems (ICARES’22) held in Tipaza, Algeria. It includes recent advances and issues related to the field of renewable energy systems. It focuses on the advances in renewable energy systems, its applications, and new concepts. It brings together researchers, engineers, manufacturers, and students from all over the world to share and discuss recent advancements and developments in renewable energy research and applications.

Author Biography:

​Adel Mellit is Professor of Electronics at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Jijel University, Algeria. He received his M.S. Degree and PhD in Electronics from the University of Sciences Technologies (USTHB) Algiers in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Research interests of Dr. Adel Mellit focus on the application of the artificial intelligence techniques, including machine learning and deep learning in photovoltaic systems and micro-grids. He has authored and co-authored more than 180 papers in international peer reviewed journals, and papers in conference proceedings, mainly on photovoltaic systems, six book chapters, two proceedings book and three books (two in springer and one in Elsevier). He was the Director of the Renewable Energy Laboratory (2012-2022) at Jijel University (Algeria) and is an Associate Member at the ICTP Trieste (Italy). Subject editor of Energy journal (Elsevier Ltd), Editor of the IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics,  and editorial board member of the Renewable Energy journal (Elsevier Ltd). Dr. Hocine Belmili is Senior Research in Electronics Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from National Polytechnic School (Algeria) in 2012. In 2014, he received the HDR degree from Saad Dahlab University of Blida. His research interests are in the areas of renewable energy systems, distributed systems, the application of advanced methods in control and improvement in energy conversion systems, the energy management, and fault detection in hybrid systems. Dr. Seddik Bacha received his Ph.D. and HDR degrees in Electrical Engineering from Grenoble Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Grenoble, France, in 1993 and 1998, respectively. He is currently Program Scientific Director and Scientific Council Chair of the SuperGrid Institute of Energy Transition, France, and Research Officer with the Grenoble Electrical Engineering of Grenoble. His research interests include modeling and control of electrical energy processes, such as renewable energy systems, intelligent buildings, V2G, microgrids, and HVdc supergrids.
