As a long-time player of Konami football titles I'm always looking forward to each annual entry in the Pro Evolution Soccer series. 2019 is definitely a step-up from 2018 and the superb 2017 but the changes are becoming more and more incremental. The gameplay is tighter, passing much improved and the pitch itself look more realistic, with grass lush and affecting the run of the ball. The addition of a number of licenced leagues, such as the Scottish Premiership and Russian Premier League are a welcome addition but they lack the fully fledged presentation as seen in the FIFA series.

MyClub returns as Konami's answer to FIFA Ultimate Team but for me lacks the depth and long-term involvement of Master League. Unfortunately it would seem that the former is the primary focus of the series going forward.

Still, an excellent football sim – better than FIFA once again. Sort yourself out with a straight forward option file for those unlicenced leagues and you're all set. 9/10

A really good football game that plays a slower more tactical game than FIFA, but held back by numerous problems: Poor dated menus, and lack of licences are well known issues for PES, but gameplay also suffers with AI teams using similar tactics continually passing down the wings even when clear on goal, and heading virtually being none existent especially from corners. I’m sure these problems will be patched and when they are it will be a great game
