Description

Elite athletes have long relied on personalised stretching programmes to improve flexibility and prevent injuries. What many of us don't know is that many of these targeted stretches can have a much broader application. In Prescriptive Stretching, 2nd Edition, Kristian Berg shares his expertise on stretching and athletic training with over 40 different stretches. The visually stunning colour anatomical illustrations demonstrate exactly how each stretch targets a specific muscle. These stretches are designed to eliminate pain, alleviate muscle soreness, improve balance and flexibility and prevent common injuries. The text also features a detailed discussion of PNF stretching, as well as sample stretching programmes designed to improve flexibility and assist with injury prevention for various parts of the body. The essential text shows you how to quickly assess pain and identify the stretches to reduce discomfort. Specifically you'll find recommendations for common ailments such as headache, back pain, neck stiffness, shoulder soreness, golfer's elbow, tennis elbow and runner's knee. Whether you're looking to increase range of motion or simply eliminate muscle pain, Prescriptive Stretching, 2nd Edition has you covered.
