Description

Tatesa Cattle Breeding Center is a government owned breeding center implemented with an objective of production and distribution of crossbred pregnant heifers for supporting small scale dairy production. The cows in the center had poor reproductive performance compared to other reports inthe country for indigenous and cross breed cows. The range of most of the parameters investigated waslonger than the reports of others especially of calving interval, age at first calving and days open. The poor reproductive performance of Boran cows in the breedingcenter could be due to the management system prevailing in the center.
