He was admitted to the bar and practiced law until 1882 when he began to devote full-time to his writing. Pocahontas is one of the volumes in his 12 volume set of Columbian Historical Novels. In Chapter VII he writes: There is no story more dear to the heart of the American than that of Pocahontas.
