"Pieter de Hooch" also looks at the subject matter of the piece within the broader historical context of seventeenth - century Dutch concepts of domesticity and parenthood, whilst tying it to other social and cultural developments of the period.

Author Biography:

Wayne Francis is Professor of Fine Arts at Syracuse University and is a specialist on 17th century Dutch art. He is also author of numerous publications on similar subjects.
