Description

This book is about a little frog named Philomena who tries hard to succeed in school but deals with many negative thoughts about herself, her friends, her emotions, and her life. She is an intelligent little frog who mostly enjoys life in her lily pad village. At first, she is frustrated with her life, but through encouragement, support, and a paradigm shift, she begins to look at life differently and changes her attitude to "I like it a lot!" Many of the fun words in this story have moved out of fashion and take us back in the evolution of language. I enjoyed these words in my childhood and have enjoyed bringing them to print for a new generation of children. The character of Philomena is based on my own childhood feelings, as well as the feelings I observed in children during my teaching career. Enjoy!

Author Biography:

Delonn Mae Brekke Anderson was born in a small town in South Dakota. She acquired her love for animals and water while living in a town between two small lakes, with a creek in her back yard. As a small child she loved going to her town's library with the lush, grassy lawn surrounding the building with all the beautiful books! While acquiring her master's degree, she wrote a paper titled "Children: Authors and Illustrators." In doing this research and writing, she developed a five-step program in which teachers could take their students on a journey of developing a picture book, including an author's tea at the end to celebrate each child's unique, individual story. As a result of this work and the work she has done over forty-two years of elementary teaching, she decided to write a children's book.John and Delonn enjoy living in Arizona with their two adult children and their spouses, who have provided eight enjoyable grandchildren plus three grand-dogs!
