Description

Updated to include major changes in the law, Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Law: The Basics (3rd Edition) is a resource for lawyers, employers, injured workers, medical providers, insurance professionals and others. Whether you only handle a few workers' compensation cases or need an answer to what you believe is a "simple" question, this book will help you understand the often unique, and sometimes less than intuitive language of Pennsylvania workers' compensation law. The book is written in an easy-to-use format and provides practical tips, whether you are a lawyer, an insurance adjuster, or a medical provider who treats injured workers. Plus, this is the only book containing the complete provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act and the applicable Regulations.

Author Biography:

Attorney Daniel J. Siegel's cases have changed the law in workers' compensation for countless workers in Pennsylvania, and he is regularly consulted not only by injured workers but also by other lawyers who represent injured workers, who seek his guidance and often retain him to handle their complex workers' compensation cases and appeals. Mr. Siegel is the principal of the Law Offices of Daniel J. Siegel, LLC, a law firm based in Havertown, Pennsylvania. He has represented injured workers in workers' compensation, Social Security disability and employment-related matters in Pennsylvania since 1984. He regularly serves as appeals counsel for other lawyers, focusing his efforts on complex workers' compensation matters before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board. A Past-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Workers' Compensation Section, Mr. Siegel is also a frequent lecturer and author on workers' compensation and other matters. Before opening his own firm, Mr. Siegel was a partner in two Philadelphia-based law firms, where he focused his practice on workers' compensation, complex personal injury and mass tort claims. Mr. Siegel is a highly-sought after lecturer and writer, and his articles and presentations cover a wide range of topics, including workers compensation, civil litigation, personal injury, ethics, professional responsibility, technology, and other matters. He regularly works with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, and the American, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Associations. He serves on various Bar Association committees, and is a member of the Editorial Boards of The Philadelphia Lawyer, the quarterly magazine of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and The Legal Intelligencer, the daily legal newspaper in the Philadelphia area. He is also a columnist for Pennsylvania Law Weekly, The Philadelphia Lawyer, Law Practice Magazine and Trial Magazine (the monthly magazine of the American Association for Justice).
