Description

Peachy Keen is a unique four-piece Auckland-based band who describe their sound as noir lounge pop . The band consists of bass player, songwriter and singer Kathryn van Beek, pianist Nigel Braddock, jazz drummer Ben Lockwood and jazz/country violinist Tamasin Taylor. Songwriter Kathryn is an acclaimed, award-winning playwright and this has lent a literary, quirky, storytelling bent to the songs which range from satirical to theatrical to sublimely melancholy. The Peachy Keen album would still be a dream if it wasn't for the timely appearance of a fairy godmother. While they were playing at The Wellington Fringe Festival they were approached by a German writer who was so impressed she offered them money to record an album. This enabled the band to purchase some recording gear and so their debut album was born.
