I was immediately attracted to the functional design of the Ovela 8 Drawer Storage Chest, and I enthusiastically purchased two. Regrettably, this decision has turned into a significant disappointment due to the persistent and overpowering chemical odor that the chests emit.
The smell, has proven to be stubborn and all-pervasive. Over the past month, I have tried every trick in the book to get rid of it – from airing the drawers out, exposing them to sunlight, using baking soda, vinegar spray, and activated charcoal, to treating them with Rug Doctor upholstery spray. Nothing has made a dent in the stench.
This odor is not merely a slight nuisance; it’s potent enough to transfer to any items stored within, rendering the storage practically unusable for its intended purpose. I had high hopes for these chests to be a solution for my storage needs, but instead, they’ve become a source of regret, especially since I bought two of them.
For anyone considering this product, please be wary. The design and storage capacity may seem appealing, but the potential for a long-term, noxious smell could make you regret your purchase as I do.
